Using the computers and information
The computers are intended for finding information, research, learning, general enquiries and completing administrative procedures. Users must not modify or configure the operating system or download software. Access to games, chat rooms or pages with content harmful to people or computers is not permitted.
Users requesting this service must have basic computer skills. Library staff provide guidance and assistance only.
The internet provides access to valuable information of great variety and scope, but also to information that may be inappropriate, incomplete, unverified, outdated or offensive to some people. Users must assess the validity of the information, as the library is not responsible for the content they access.
Access, identification and privacy
Internet access is open and free of charge. Users must identify themselves with their DNI, NIE, passport or a card from any municipal library or the Consell d’Eivissa library network. Once identified, library staff will assign a computer or provide the wifi password for users wishing to connect their own device.
Internet access is for one person at a time. Where necessary, a maximum of two people may use a computer simultaneously. Always respect the privacy of other users.
Children aged 8 and under must be accompanied by an adult to use the service. The library is not responsible for the content accessed by users under the age of 18.
Sessions and responsibility
Each user may connect to library computers for a maximum of one hour per day. Longer sessions are permitted for online courses, extended work and similar activities, provided that no other users are waiting to use the service.
Users must familiarise themselves with and respect any copying, distribution and display rights that apply to the information they consult.
Users must also log out before leaving the computer. They are responsible for any consequences of failing to end their session properly.
Printing, storage and scanning
A printer is available to print the results of searches. Each user may print a maximum of 20 pages (sides of paper) per day. The official charges are €0.15 for black-and-white printing and €0.30 for colour documents. Users may also use their own external storage devices (USB drives, external hard drives, etc.). Some libraries also have a scanner connected to the public computers for digitising documents.
NOTE: Library staff reserve the right to end sessions at any time or deny this service to any user who does not comply with these rules.
